Families of Scents

Fragrances fall into several categories. This family of scents is very uni-sex in nature, meaning that they are universally loved by men and women.

Nature does not provide us with essential oils for certain scents. This is when we use skin safe synthetic fragrances. Fresh, green, marine, and modern fragrances are much in demand.

Try some of these delightful fragrances in our natural shea butter and jojoba soaps. Not only will your skin be softer to the touch, you will experience relief from dry-skin and achieve a more youthful appearance to your skin, naturally.

Green: Green scents would be considered "natural" in flavor. The hallmark of this fragrance family is "fresh". Some examples would be: fresh-cut grass, leaves, or simply the smell of fresh laundry that has been dried in the sun on a warm summer day.  To me there is nothing sweeter than the fresh smells of newly cut grass or mown hay.

Oceanic/Ozone: The Marine fragrance family is relatively new and is used to describe scents that evoke a feeling of the sea air. An ingredient called calone is said to be used to give the marine scent. This, too, is a uni-gender scent category.

Modern/Aldehydic: These perfumes are blended from organic chemical that have been produced synthetically. These scents do not exist, as plants, in nature. They are very potent and are used in extreme dilution by perfumists. Aldehydes often make exciting top notes in a perfume blend.

Kentish Rain is described by its designer as: A rainy, salty mist. The green notes made up of basil, green leaf and ozone with added notes of muguet, lily, rose, and jasmine. These bring out the touch of violet in the blend for sweetness. The perfumer added bottom notes of Sandalwood and Tonka to round out the earthy, coast like feel.

1920 Olive Oil & Shea Butter Soap

It has a cream colored background and is complimented with a lovely blue swirl.

Since the price of patchouli essential oil has gone through the roof we have been searching for an acceptable synthetic replacement.

Musky, smoky, exotic and deep, this fragrance oil is the best out of our extensive testing to find a scent that smelled just like Patchouli essential oil. We found our winner!

Many of you know how much I love the island of Maui and this wonderful fragrance takes me there every time.
