FAQ's

I'm very proud to live in the fine state of Wisconsin. It has been my home all of my life.

We have recently added the much requested Wisconsin beer soaps featuring the fine micro-brewery craft beers of Capital Brewery.

There is more than novelty to beer soap. The beer itself adds a delicious and thick lather while conditioning your skin.

Beer is not just for drinking at a barbeque or base ball game. Beer is well known for its conditioning properties and offers a gentle moisturizing lather.

Beer is also used as a traditional hair care treatment.

Beer is made with a complex blend of oats, barley, malt and wheat depending on the type of beer being used in the soap. These mineral-rich grains in the beer wort (the liquid created by the mashing of malted grains), promote healthy skin.

Hops are used as the bittering agent that gives each type of beer its characteristic flavor. It is known as a relaxing herb. The relaxing effects will stay with you after your shower, much like lavender does. This makes showering with beer soap an excellent choice after a difficult day or strenuous work out.

The hops herb soothes irritated skin. It contains polyphenols thought to account for its anti-bacterial and preservative effects. Hops also contain skin-softening amino acids.

We have many customers who swear by our beer soaps for their sensitive skin, troubled with psoriasis, and eczema.

Organic hops grown in Kenosha, WisconsinWe still grow some hops in our garden.

They start out as rhizomes that are planted rather shallow. Once established they climb and cover our fence. They have such pretty little cones and are ripe for harvest in late August or early September.

Gift giving has never been simpler. Our local customers enjoy personalized delivery for a $2 fee. We always include a free gift with orders over $50 and of course free shipping with orders over $50.

Milwaukee Magazine Beer soap reviewThis is the article published in the July 2008 issue of Milwaukee Magazine. Judith Ann Moriarty is the columnist.

Here is the article.

Patti Eder's dad owned an up-north tavern, so maybe she was fated to conjure "beer soap" for Patti's Potions. (www.pattispotions.com) in Kenosha. Her handmade offerings (Island Wheat and Wisconsin Amber) are pure Wisconsin, too. Middleton's capital Brewery provides the beer, Washington Island grows the wheat and bees from Somers make the honey. I bath-tested each 4.5-ounce bar ($6.50), pleased by the lavish lather and sensible fit in my hand. Neither left me smelling boozy. Amber's undertone of dark tobacco easily beat Wheat's feathery fragrance. So why put beer in soap? It's said that hops soothe, so a beer sipped while bathing with her soap could be the ultimate. On tap Eder will sell her wares at the Kenosha Harbor Marketplace on Saturdays through October. (Judith Ann Moriarty)
